Cameo is a Matrix accredited training company who specialize in qualifications for Skills for Life (Adult Maths and English), ESOL and IT.
We run learndirect centres in Felixstowe, Central Ipswich and within Ipswich and Woodbridge Jobcentres. We are also a provider for the Suffolk Stepping-stones hub and deliver tutor led on/off site English and ESOL training.
Our centres are approved by OCR, BCS and Edexcel and we are proud of our 98% success rate for Skills for Life test passes.
Services to the Brokerage
Cameo are able to offer one to one or group based ESOL training tailored to the needs of the individual as decided upon by the employer and the employee. Our CELTA 5 and PTLLS qualified tutor will carry out initial assessments using the BKSB ESOL initial assessment. This tool maps fully to the DIUS ESOL core curriculum and covers assessment in reading, writing and listening from Entry Level 1 to Level 2. Cameo offers the choice of two training routes, the first based on a personal learning goal, and the second resulting in a qualification .The non accredited route (personal learning goal) can incorporate learning aims such as interpreting health and safety signs, completing time sheets, incident and accident report forms or producing concise hand over notes. The tutor will draw up individual learning plans which focus on the achievement of a goal that the employer and the employee agree is beneficial.
The qualification route focuses on raising the employee’s level of literacy to a level above that already held. Following on from the BKSB initial assessment the learner will then be able to complete the diagnostic assessments to give a fuller picture of where their specific skills gaps are. We are accredited with EDEXCEL to test for ESOL for work, and ESOL at entry and level 1 and 2 (Speaking and listening, Reading, Writing). On completion of either of these routes Cameo would welcome the employee to continue their learning through our learndirect provision. They would have the opportunity to progress to level 2 in literacy and numeracy and to obtain a qualification in ICT (subject to meeting funding requirements).
We are able to offer off-site provision at either of our centres if appropriate and can arrange flexible delivery to accommodate workplace shift patterns.

Induction (Excellence in Care): This session (one full day) is tailored specifically to the organisations staff policies, procedures and handbook and helps an organisation complete and fulfil its role for induction training for new staff members. The session is based on person centred planning (looking at individual and organisational skills needed to work in a person centred way) and so encompasses some of Skills for Care’s knowledge set standards and Common Induction Standards (CIS). For example by covering care values, basic principles of mental capacity act, communication, equality and diversity.
Aside from our training offer we also help with consultancy support, with recent work being around policy development, helping employers set up businesses and registration with CQC.

West Suffolk College are pleased to announce they are one of two colleges in the Eastern Region to have received Beacon Status which is the highest accolade a college can receive.
West Suffolk College lies in the heart of Bury St Edmunds and provides a range of vocational and academic courses across many occupational areas throughout Suffolk and Norfolk. One successful area of provision is Vocational Qualifications in Health, Social Care and for the Children’s workforce The college has delivered these qualifications since 1995 and recently we have worked in partnership with other providers in Suffolk to deliver these awards.

YMCA Training is situated on the edge of Ipswich providing easy access for public transport and ample parking for others. The Centre relocated to it current premises approximately two and a half years ago and now has the capacity to offer training and career support to people of all ages in the surrounding area.
Our focus within the Care Department is to provide training for the New Diploma levels 2 and 3 to those people wishing to start a career in the Health and Social Care sector or to enhance a role they are already working in.

YMCA Training at Lowestoft is one of many national centres which all deliver different training. Other Easterncentres include Great Yarmouth, Norwich, Stowmarket and Ipswich.
The office is based in the centre of Lowestoft in Regent Road and is easy accessible by public transport.

Within our Lowestoft centre we offer Apprenticeships in Care and Childcare for all ages (subject to meeting criteria) as well as T2G and Commercial funding. We also offer Foundation Learning programmes covering many area’s including Mechanics, Key skills, Functional skills and varied short qualifications.
As YMCA Training has been established in Lowestoft for many years the staff in the care department have built a good relationship with many residential homes including Learning disability which promotes independence. This allows us to deliver an Apprenticeship award in Health and Social Care.

To enhance the service we give to employers and learners we offer weekly training sessions on the knowledge requirement of the Health and Social Care Diplomas. These are free to learners registered with us but are available at a charge per session to everyone. We are also able to offer units which can be accredited by City & Guilds for CPD purposes. We are delivering the Generic, Dementia and Learning Disability Pathways. We also have training sessions available for Dementia and Learning Disability.
